NCKU Professor Contributed to Pygmy Sperm Whale Rehabilitation and Release Work

A stranded pygmy sperm whale, Meimei, or “Little Sister,” was successfully released into the waters 15 nautical miles off Kaohsiung on the morning of March 7th, 2010, after 58 days of rehabilitation in the Taijiang Cetacean Rescue Center in Tainan County, southern Taiwan.

A satellite transmitter, battery-powered to work for six months to 200 days, was implanted on Meimei's fin. …
