The 2008 UMAP Taiwan Regional Meeting & Workshop is scheduled for June 12-13, 2008 and will be hosted by National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. The workshop topics are Credit Transfer Scheme (UCTS) and Student Exchange Program (USCO), as well as a panel discussion with the 5 participating schools. read more »

In the 21st century, with increasing interactions between people from all corners of the globle, virtually and physically, mobility is now a major issue. For higher education institutions, which must take on the responsibility of educating very broad minded workforce of this century, this is absolutely fundamental. For this reason, an organization called UMAP, or University Mobility for Asia and the Pacific, was founded in eighteen years ago in 1993. As a founding member, Taiwan was an active and intimate component of its operations and activities.
Members of UMAP are universities countries aound the Pacific Rim, from Chile to Canada to Japan to Asia Pacific to Southeast Asia and finally to Australia and New Zealand. The mission of UMAP, according to the website (http://www.umap.org) is
“…UMAP is the acronym for the Organisation called University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific. UMAP was founded in 1993. It is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education (university) sector in the region.” read more »
